Socially mediated technology awareness
Proceedings of the 4th international workshop on Social software engineering, 2011New technology can reduce a developer's work. Yet, given how fast technology changes, it is close to impossible for a developer to stay aware of technological advances that might ease his work. In this paper, we propose an approach that increases the likelihood of a developer becoming aware of technology that might help him.

Designing Socially Aware Conversational Agents
2008In this paper we address the problem of how to make conversational agents socially aware. State-of-the-art conversational agents cannot deal with multi-user situations where the user-system dialog is interleaved with discussions between users. We describe the development of an algorithm for determining addressee-hood of user utterances.

Socially aware computing constructs
International Journal of Social and Humanistic Computing, 2012Every day we are confronted with social interactions with other people. Our social life is characterised by norms that manifest as attitudinal and behavioural uniformities among people. With greater awareness about our social context, we can interact more efficiently.

Socially aware computation and communication
Proceedings of the 7th international conference on Multimodal interfaces, 2005By building machines that understand social signaling and social context, we can dramatically improve collective decision making and help keep remote users 'in the loop.' I will describe three systems that have a substantial understanding of social context, and use this understanding to improve human group performance.

Preferences-Aware social ridesharing
