Sustainable Fabrication of Tailored Bone Substitutes: From High‐Throughput Scaffold Manufacturing, Scaled‐Up HMSC Expansion to Dynamic Cultivation in a Perfusion Bioreactor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The demand for off‐the‐shelf biocompatible bone substitutes has driven the development of numerous independent in vitro technologies to generate products resembling physiological tissues. Due to technical challenges and overly simplified cultivation approaches/niches, the end‐products are often uniformly shaped and inferior to native bone ...

Prevention Is Better than Cure: Exposing the Vulnerabilities of Social Bot Detectors with Realistic Simulations

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The evolution of social bots, i.e., accounts on social media platforms controlled by malicious software, is making them increasingly more challenging to discover.

Stingy bots can improve human welfare in experimental sharing networks

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Machines powered by artificial intelligence increasingly permeate social networks with control over resources. However, machine allocation behavior might offer little benefit to human welfare over networks when it ignores the specific network mechanism ...

Tunable p–p Interactions Along Linear Chains Control Metavalent Bonding in Chalcogenide Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Substitution of Sr at the Pb site within an atomic plane of PbTe perturbs the p–p hopping network. Since Sr does not support the p–p interaction key to metavalent bonding along (‐Pb‐Te‐) chains, long‐range electronic charge transfer in response to displacement of Pb is stalked at the Sr site.

DDX3x Regulates NINJ1 Transcription via Histone Lactylation in Sepsis Associated‐Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a potential therapeutic approach for sepsis‐associated acute kidney injury (SA‐AKI). We found that during SA‐AKI, reduced expression of DDX3x in renal tubular epithelial cells mediates histone delactylation, which in turn upregulates NINJ1 transcription and triggers tubular cell death. Conversely, Odetiglucan confers protection by

Bots as Active News Promoters: A Digital Analysis of COVID-19 Tweets

open access: yesInformation, 2020
In this study, we examined the activities of automated social media accounts or bots that tweet or retweet referencing #COVID-19 and #COVID19. From a total sample of over 50 million tweets, we used a mixed method to extract more than 185,000 messages ...

A Robotic Testing Platform for Pipelined Discovery of Resilient Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a robotic testing platform enabling high‐throughput, multi‐parameter lifetime mapping of linear dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs). By integrating programmable high‐voltage control and automated electromechanical measurements, the system identifies material and operating conditions that double actuator lifetime.

Bots, social networks, and politics in Brazil: interferences of automated profiles and political actors in the brazilian electoral debate

open access: yes, 2018
The use of bots and fake profiles to distort the political debate on social networks by spreading disinformation and fake news has already been identified in different countries around the world.
