Abstract In this chapter we want to use a sociological approach to aspects of cancer care and focus on what the ‘social’ may mean in that context. By ‘social’ we allude to the personal and biographical context of a person, and to the conceptual issues that underpin the ways we ‘see’ and care for people with the disease.
