Matters for judgement: some thoughts on method in management history [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper reflects on some aspects of method in management history and the importance of the self-reflection on their world-view that must accompany authors' endeavours, in order to be articulated in the matters they proffer for the reader's ...

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Funcionalidades de la gamificación: Classcraft y Moodle en el marco de Octalysis

open access: yesInterconectando Saberes, 2020
La gamificación es una técnica reciente que consiste en aplicar elementos del juego en contextos ajenos al juego. Existen marcos teóricos que sugieren un modelo para aplicar estos elementos en la implementación de soluciones concretas.

Use of local history material in lessons on social and scientific subjects as a condition for the development of reading literacy of students in rural educational organizations

open access: yesPedagogy Of Rural School, 2022
The relevance of the article is determined by the state policy in the field of education, as well as the need to find and develop approaches and means to implement the task of forming functional literacy among students, in particular, its reader component.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

La gobernanza como herramienta innovadora para el desarrollo local

open access: yesInterconectando Saberes, 2019
Los procesos de desarrollo local que se han iniciado en diferentes países han evidenciado que la actualidad los desafíos de los gobiernos locales son mucho más de articulación de actores y capital social, que de gestión local.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
