Models of Participation in Social Networks
2017The most important technological trend of the last years has been the rise of social networking systems to social phenomena involving hundreds of millions of people, attracting users from several social groups. Social networking systems blur the distinction between the private and working spheres, and users use such systems both at home and in the ...

Social-Relational Topic Model for Social Networks
Proceedings of the 24th ACM International on Conference on Information and Knowledge Management, 2015Social networking services, such as Twitter and Sina Weibo, have tremendous popularity in recent years. Mass of short texts and social links are aggregated into these service platforms. To realize personalized services on social network, topic inference from both short texts and social links plays more and more important role.

Modeling dynamic network structure in social networks
Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Communication and Information Processing, 2017This paper provides an overview of the premier approach to understand an affectation of distinguishable human behavior to network topology. A psychological functioning which differentiated a user's behavior from another was inferred by Big Five Personality factors.

Bayesian Networks for Social Modeling
2011This paper describes a body of work developed over the past five years. The work addresses the use of Bayesian network (BN) models for representing and predicting social/organizational behaviors. The topics covered include model construction, validation, and use.

A Social Network Model for Integration of Refugees
Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Simulation and Modeling Methodologies, Technologies and Applications, 2019The present work aims to study and model the integration of refugees who appear in a society, through the implementation of adaptive social networks. In our model, for each individual, their characteristics of religiousness and language skills are considered for the social integration. We also explore the homophily phenomenon as part of the creation of

Quantum Modeling of Social Networks
2009This research aims at the application of the models extracted from the many-body quantum mechanics to describe social dynamics. It is intended to draw macroscopic characteristics of communities starting from the analysis of microscopic interactions with respect to the node model. In the aim to experiment the validity of the proposed mathematical model,

A geometric model for on-line social networks
Proceedings of the International Workshop on Modeling Social Media, 2010We study the link structure of on-line social networks (OSNs), and introduce a new model for such networks which may help infer their hidden underlying reality. In the geo-protean (GEO-P) model for OSNs nodes are identified with points in Euclidean space, and edges are stochastically generated by a mixture of the relative distance of nodes and a ...

A Model of Social and Economic Capital in Social Networks
2017We propose an agent-based model allowing to simulate social and economic capital stock on aggregate and individual level in the economy. It is shown that different topologies of the social network lead to varying levels of both types of capital in the economy and that there is a trade-off between social and economic utility which they ultimately convey.

Modeling Opinion Dynamics in a Social Network
2013 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Joint Conferences on Web Intelligence (WI) and Intelligent Agent Technologies (IAT), 2013Opinion dynamics is a complex procedure that entails a cognitive process when dealing with how a person integrates influential opinions to form a revised opinion. In this work, we present a new approach to model opinion dynamics by treating the opinion on an issue as a product inferred from one's knowledge bases, where the knowledge bases keep growing ...

Modeling dynamics of social networks: A survey
2014 6th International Conference on Computational Aspects of Social Networks, 2014In the last decade, social networks have increasingly attracting the attention of several researchers in various fields. By tradition, social network analysis (SNA) is performed on static graphs but this representation is very limited for a sound, network analysis.
