Impact of bulk density assignment of bone on MRI‐based abdominal region radiotherapy planning for MR‐linac workflow

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the impact of bone relative electron density (rED) assignment on radiotherapy planning for the abdominal region. Methods Twenty patients who received abdominal radiotherapy using MR‐Linac and underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) simulation were analyzed.

The Non-linear Dynamics of Meaning-Processing in Social Systems [PDF]

open access: yesLoet Leydesdorff, The Non-linear dynamics of meaning-processing in social systems, Social Science Information, 48(1) (2009) 5-33, 2009
Social order cannot be considered as a stable phenomenon because it contains an order of reproduced expectations. When the expectations operate upon one another, they generate a non-linear dynamics that processes meaning. Specific meaning can be stabilized, for example, in social institutions, but all meaning arises from a horizon of possible meanings.

The burden of burnout: Understanding its prevalence and organizational drivers in medical physics

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Burnout is a work‐related syndrome characterized by increased levels of emotional exhaustion (EE) and depersonalization (DP) along with decreased levels of personal achievement. In the healthcare setting, higher burnout levels have been associated with negative impacts on personnel, an increased risk of errors, and a decrease in the

Propagation of chaos and phase transition in a stochastic model for a social network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We consider a model for a social network with N interacting social actors. This model is a system of interacting marked point processes in which each point process indicates the successive times in which a social actor expresses a "favorable" (+1) or "contrary" (-1) opinion.

On the Strategic Allocation of Social Gratification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Members of social networks are given opportunities to bestow positive recognition upon one another by means of constructs such as "likes" and "retweets." Although recipients no doubt experience utility from these actions, one might question why these constructs with no intrinsic value for the sender are exchanged at all.
