Simulations on Correlated Behavior and Social Learning

2010
We consider a population of agents that can choose between two risky technologies: an old one for which they know the expected outcome, and a new one for which they have only a prior. We confront different environments. In the benchmark case agents are isolated and can perform costly experiments to infer the quality of the new technology.

Reflections on Social Simulation and Complexity

2019
After the involvement with a huge collection of case studies, where the experimentation may distinguish between luck and skill, our motivation was directed to see how agent-based modeling and model thinking were applied to general problem solving and case studies on complexity.

Caffè Nero: the Evaluation of Social Simulation. [PDF]

open access: possibleJ. Artif. Soc. Soc. Simul., 2005
This contribution deals with the assessment of the quality of a simulation by discussing and comparing "real-world" and scientific social simulations. We use the example of the Caffè Nero in Guildford as a 'real-world' simulation of a Venetian café.

Agent-Based Social Simulation and PSO

2013
Consumer's behavior can be modeled using a utility function that allows for measuring the $emphsuccess of an individual's decision, which consists of a tuple of goods an individual would like to buy and the hours of work necessary to pay for this purchase and consumption.

Representing Trust in Cognitive Social Simulations

2011
Trust plays a critical role in communications, strength of relationships, and information processing at the individual and group level. Cognitive social simulations show promise in providing an experimental platform for the examination of social phenomena such as trust formation. This paper describes the initial attempts at representation of trust in a
