Strategies and challenges for green campuses

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Cities
The global environmental and ecological climate crisis necessitates urgent mitigation and adaptation measures, with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) playing a crucial role in driving the transition toward a sustainable future. This paper examines the

Social Accounting : In the Wake of the Sustainability

open access: yesTheory, Methodology, Practice, 2016
Not only the strenghthening of global competition and the acceleration of technological evolution, but also the socialand governmental claims for sustainability draw up new challanges and expectations against the decision support andaccounting, too. Whether would the decision support and accounting be able to perform these challanges andexpectations ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Applying social-ecological system resilience principles to the context of woody vegetation management in smallholder farming landscapes of the Global South

open access: yesEcosystems and People
Woody vegetation diversity is declining due to human-induced land-use changes, mainly agricultural expansion and intensification, deforestation, forest degradation and urbanisation.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Broadening the Justifications for Inclusive Conservation: Values Associated With Nature's Contributions to People

open access: yesConservation Letters
Overlooking the diverse values associated with Nature's Contributions to People (NCP) undermines conservation efforts. To examine this underresearched association, we combined the NCP and plural valuation frameworks to investigate how values are ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

An examination of the occurance of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDS) and symptoms among small scale construction workers in WINDHOEK, Namibia

open access: yesSocial Sciences and Humanities Open
Even though the topic has been the focus of numerous global researches, few studies have examined the incidence of WMSDs symptoms among small-scale construction workers in developing countries of Africa.
