Nasopharynx Recurrent Disease Prevention in Children with Lymphopharyngeal Ring Hyperplasia

open access: yesZdorovʹe Rebenka, 2016
Bsckground. Nasopharyngeal lymphoid tissue is one of the places of accumulation and growth of respiratory disease pathogens. The most vulnerable for them are the children of preschool age with lymphopharyngeal ring hyperplasia who have been found to have

Steering Oxygen Activation Pathways via Redox Dual‐Defects in 2D Hydrated WO3 for High‐Yield Singlet Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Redox dual‐defects (Cs substitution and O vacancies) in 2D hydrated WO3 steer O2 activation toward selective singlet oxygen evolution. WO‐CO achieves 8.6–15.8 times higher 1O2 production than single‐defect or pristine catalysts, enabling efficient pollutant mineralization via a pathway‐selective photocatalytic mechanism.

(In)Consistencies in responses to sodium bicarbonate supplementation: a randomised, repeated measures, counterbalanced and double-blind study

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives: Intervention studies do not account for high within-individual variation potentially compromising the magnitude of an effect. Repeat administration of a treatment allows quantification of individual responses and determination of the ...

Tolerance of Grasses to Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride and Sodium Chloride

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2004
The tolerance of six cool-season grasses and six warm-season grasses to three kinds of salt was examined in solution culture. Among the cool-season grasses, tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) was the most tolerant to all three salts.

Organotin and osmoregulation: quantifying the effects of environmental concentrations of sediment-associated tri-n-butyltin and triphenyltin on osmoregulatory processes in the European flounder Platichthys flesus (L)

open access: yes, 2000
The disruption of physiological and morphological aspects of osmoregulatory processes in freshwater-adapted 0-group European flounders, Platichthys flesus (L.), caused by exposure to environmental concentrations (150 ng triorganotin g-1 dry weight ...

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.
