Sodium Fluoride and Cell Growth [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1965
Berry and Trillwood (1963) found that sodium fluoride added to culture media to give an augmented fluoride concentration of 0.045 to 4.5 p.p.m. reduced the growth rate of HeLa cells and of strain L mouse fibrcblasts. These concentrations of fluoride were described as " equivalent to those recommended for use in drinking-water "?that is, 1 p.p.m.

Pure xenon hexafluoride prepared for thermal properties studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Preparation of a xenon hexafluoride and sodium fluoride salt yields a sample of the highest possible purity for use in thermal measurements. The desired hexafluoride can easily be freed from the common contaminants, xenon tetra-fluoride, xenon difluoride,

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sodium fluoride exposure exerts toxic effects on porcine oocyte maturation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Excessive long-term fluoride intake is associated with several health problems, including infertility. However, limited information is available on the toxic effects of fluoride exposure on the female reproductive system, especially oocyte maturation. In
