Charge transfer in sodium iodide collisions
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2023Sodium iodide (NaI) has, over the years, served as a prototype system in studies of non-adiabatic dynamics. Here, the charge transfer collision reactions Na+ + I− ⇆ Na + I (mutual neutralization and ion-pair formation) are studied using an ab initio approach and the total and differential cross sections are calculated for the reactions.

A nonradioactive iodide uptake assay for sodium iodide symporter function
Analytical Biochemistry, 2010The standard assay for sodium iodide symporter (NIS) function is based on the measurement of radioiodide uptake ((125)I) in NIS-expressing cells. However, cost and safety issues have limited the method from being used widely. Here we describe a simple spectrophotometric assay for the determination of iodide accumulation in rat thyroid-derived cells ...

Ice Nucleation Silver Iodide-Sodium Iodide: A Reevaluation
The Journal of Weather Modification, 2012New, preliminary, laboratory studies of the 2Agl.Nal ice nucleus are being conducted in the CSU Isothermal Cloud Chamber. Rates and mechanisms of ice nucleation are investigated using chemical kinetic methodology. Interrelationships between ice nuclei effectiveness, rates and mechanisms of nucleation, and chemical composition are studied.

The activities of CdI/sub 2/ in NaI and of ThI/sub 4/ in NaI have been determined by using vapor-phase UV absorption spectroscopy. The activity coefficient, ..gamma.., for the CdI/sub 2/-NaI system was found to be constant below 0.05 mole fraction of CdI/sub 2/ and equal to 0.23. For the ThI/sub 4/-NaI system, ..gamma.. was found to be constant below 0.

Sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) and cytokines
Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes, 2001It has been shown that TSH upregulates rat NIS gene expression in vitro, and this induction can be modulated by cytokines. Analysis of the distribution of rat NIS mRNA ex vivo demonstrated variable levels of NIS transcription in different tissue samples. - IL-1beta and IL-6 have been found to decrease NIS mRNA expression in TSH-stimulated FRTL-5-cells.
