Conserved charged amino acid residues in the extracellular region of sodium/iodide symporter are critical for iodide transport activity

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science, 2010
Background Sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) mediates the active transport and accumulation of iodide from the blood into the thyroid gland. His-226 located in the extracellular region of NIS has been demonstrated to be critical for iodide transport in our ...

Dissolution of Sodium Iodide [131I] Capsule in Vitro

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes, 2023
The dissolution of sodium iodine [131I] capsules for therapy was measured by the real-time online detection device of the dissolution of radiopharmaceuticals, and the dissolution curve was compared with the reference preparation.

Tumor microenvironment affects exogenous sodium/iodide symporter expression

open access: yesTranslational Oncology, 2021
For decades, sodium/iodide symporter NIS-mediated iodide uptake has played a crucial role in the radioactive ablation of thyroid cancer cells. NIS-based gene therapy has also become a promising tool for the treatment of tumors of extrathyroidal origin ...

A Simple and Effective Protocol for One-Pot Diazotization-Iodination of Aromatic Amines by Acidic Ionic Liquid [H-NMP]HSO4 at Room Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2011
A simple and efficient one-pot method for the preparation of aromatic iodides has been developed by sequential diazotization–iodination of aromatic amines employing sodium nitrite and sodium iodide in the presence of acidic ionic liquid N-methyl-2 ...

Dimerization of the Sodium/Iodide Symporter

open access: yesThyroid®, 2019
Background: The ability of thyroid follicular epithelial cells to accumulate iodide via the sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) is exploited to successfully treat most thyroid cancers, although a subset of patients lose functional NIS activity and become unresponsive to radioiodide therapy, with poor clinical outcome.

Durable sodium iodide interphase stabilizing sodium metal anodes

open access: yesCarbon Neutrality
The implementation of sodium metal batteries (SMBs) is known for their low cost and high energy density. However, a major concern in SMBs is the formation of dendrites on the Na metal anode, which can potentially cause short circuits and compromise ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
