Microstructural Engineering of Conductive MOF Nanocrystals for Multifunctional Heterostructures

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A coating strategy based on conductive metal–organic frameworks (cMOFs) is presented to construct advanced heterostructures. By controlling crystallization and employing pre‐deposition seeding, precise nanocrystal assembly is achieved, maximizing selective mass transport, catalytic functionality, and electrical conductivity.

Functional Characterization of the Eukaryotic Cysteine Desulfurase Nfs1p from Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Previous studies have indicated that the essential protein Nfs1 performs a crucial role in cellular iron-sulfur (Fe/S) protein maturation. The protein is located predominantly in mitochondria, yet low amounts are present in cytosol and nucleus.

A Green Route to High-Surface Area Carbons by Chemical Activation of Biomass-Based Products with Sodium Thiosulfate

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2018
A simple, sustainable, and affordable approach for the synthesis of highly porous carbons is presented. The procedure is based on the use of sodium thiosulfate as an activating agent and a variety of biomass-based products (glucose, sucrose, and gelatine)

Self‐Assembled Pd(II) Nano‐Adsorbents for Iodine and Methyl Iodide Capture in Vapor and Aqueous Phases

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Industrial and medical activities have led to severe iodine contamination, posing risks to public health. This study investigates four non‐porous self‐assembled coordination cages for efficient iodine capture in vapor and aqueous phases. These cages demonstrate exceptional adsorption capacity, rapid kinetics, and recyclability, making them promising ...

Iron oxide and pyrocatechol: a spectroscopy study of the reaction products

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2006
The reaction of 1,2-dihydroxy-benzene (pyrocatechol) (C6H6O2) with iron oxide (Fe2O3) and sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) in aqueous medium (pH 7) was investigated. Pyrocatechol suffers autoxidation and coordinates with Fe3+ in solution.

Comprehensive Osteosarcoma Treatment with Multifunctional Composite Hydrogels Enabling Combined Photothermal Cancer Ablation and Osteoinductive Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This study presents a comprehensive strategy for treating osteosarcoma and promoting bone tissue regeneration using a multifunctional composite hydrogel composed of mineralized fibers with polyphenols. Furthermore, the biomaterial effectively mitigates the degenerative microenvironment including oxidative stress that develops after tumor ablation. This
