Electron Photodetachment from Aqueous Anions. I. Quantum Yields for Generation of Hydrated Electron by 193 and 248 nm Laser Photoexcitation of Miscellaneous Inorganic Anions

open access: yes, 2004
Time resolved transient absorption spectroscopy has been used to determine quantum yields for electron photodetachment in 193 nm and (where possible) 248 nm laser excitation of miscellaneous aqueous anions, including hexacyanoferrate(II), sulfate ...

Defect‐Rich High‐Entropy Spinel Oxide as an Efficient and Robust Oxygen Evolution Catalyst for Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesSusMat, Volume 5, Issue 3, June 2025.
Defect‐rich (NiCoMnCrFe)3O4 high‐entropy oxide is fabricated, which shows unprecedented activity toward oxygen evolution in alkaline seawater, outperforming (NiCoMnCrZnFe)3O4, (NiCoMnCrZnAlFe)3O4, (NiCoMnFe)3O4, well‐crystallized (NiCoMnCrFe)3O4‐H, IrO2, and the‐state‐of‐art reported electrocatalysts.

A study of methods for the recovery of silver, bromine, iodine, and sodium thiosulfate from used photographic fixing baths [PDF]

open access: yes, 1937
Sodium thiosulfate was one of the pioneer reagents used in photography, and is still the most important reagent used in photographic fixing. The solubility of the silver halides in an excess of sodium thiosulfate makes it important as a reagent for ...

Modeling fire‐related smoke inhalation injury using the human lung‐on‐a‐chip and organoid platform: Pathogenesis insights and therapeutic evaluation

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2025.
Fire‐related smoke inhalation‐induced acute lung injury (SI‐ALI) poses a significant public health risk, yet effective treatments are limited due to the lack of suitable models. This study developed a more realistic model of SI‐ALI using organ‐on‐a‐chip and organoid technologies, identified key molecules such as catechol‐O‐methyltransferase and ...

A Study of the Low Current Density Electrolysis of Ammonium Thiosulfate Fixers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Determinations of the current tolerences of sodium thiosulfate and ammonium thiosulfate fixers are made and compared. The rate of fixation of ammonium thiosulfate fixer before and after electrolysis is studied.

Effects of Nitrate on Hydrogenogenic Carbon Monoxide Oxidation in Parageobacillus thermoglucosidasius

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2025.
Parageobacillus thermoglucosidasius hierarchically utilises nitrate respiration and hydrogenogenic carbon monoxide (CO) oxidation. Nitrate suppresses CO oxidation and promotes rapid cell growth through hydrogen‐dependent nitrate reduction. For this bacterium, CO serves as a supplemental energy source in environments lacking alternative electron ...
