Contact allergy to gold sodium thiosulfate

Contact Dermatitis, 1996
100 consecutive patients routinely attending the contact dermatitis clinic were patched tested to gold sodium thiosulfate (GST). 13 patients had a positive patch test to GST, 11 of whom were female, and 12 had pierced ears. There was no correlation with any other substance in the European standard series, although there was a high incidence of nickel ...

Sodium Thiosulfate: Pediatric First Approval

Pediatric Drugs, 2022
Sodium thiosulfate (Pedmark®) is a chemoprotectant/antioxidant developed by Fennec Pharmaceuticals (formerly Adherex Technologies) to reduce to risk of hearing loss associated with cisplatin. Sodium thiosulfate reduces the risk of ototoxicity by interacting directly with cisplatin to produce inactive platinum species, as well as by causing ...

SODIUM THIOSULFATE IN TREATMENT OF SCABIES

Archives of Dermatology, 1936
The therapy of scabies for many years has consisted of ointments containing sulfur, either alone or in combination with other drugs. The therapeutic action of sulfur apparently is dependent on the production of hydrogen sulfide, which is lethal to Acarus and its ova.

Sodium Thiosulfate Disposition in Humans

Anesthesiology, 1983
Thiosulfate concentrations and pharmacokinetics were studied in relation to sodium nitroprusside before, during, and after anesthesia. Normal thiosulfate concentrations were 1.13 +/- 0.11 mg/dl and 0.28 +/- 0.02 mg/dl in plasma and urine, respectively.

Skin testing with gold sodium thiomalate and gold sodium thiosulfate

Contact Dermatitis, 1995
Recently gold sodium thiosulfate was found to be the most common sensitizer after nickel sulfate in our routinely patch tested dermatitis patients. When patients hypersensitive to gold sodium thiosulfate were tested with another monovalent gold salt, gold sodium thiomalate, at equimolar concentrations, in principle, no positive reactions were obtained.

Sodium thiosulfate in the treatment of non‐uremic calciphylaxis

The Journal of Dermatology, 2013
AbstractCalciphylaxis is a metastatic calcification‐induced vasculopathy that results in the occlusion of small blood vessels. Although calciphylaxis is normally associated with end‐stage renal disease, calciphylaxis from non‐uremic origin occurs as well.

Effect of Sodium Thiosulfate on the Pharmacokinetics and Toxicity of Cisplatin

JNCI Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1989
Concurrent administration of sodium thiosulfate (STS) can protect against the nephrotoxic effects of even very-high-dose cisplatin (CDDP) (i.e., 270 mg/m2 given intraperitoneally). The effect of STS on the pharmacology and toxicity of CDDP was investigated in patients receiving at each treatment 90 mg of CDDP/m2 intraperitoneally, with STS given ...

The influence of sodium. thiosulfate on experimental tumor induction

Experientia, 1948
