Product innovation when consumers have switching costs

open access: yes
Economists have long recognized that in free markets, incentives to innovate will be diluted unless some factors grant innovators with a temporary monopoly. Patenting is the most cited factor in the economic literature.

Minimally Invasive Delivery of Optical Nanosensors Using Injectable Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Injectable peptide hydrogels offer a minimally invasive delivery platform for single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)‐based near‐infrared fluorescent sensors, enabling real‐time measurement of drug concentrations. Encapsulated SWCNTs show a dose‐dependent fluorescence response across physiologically relevant concentrations and retain their fluorescence ...

Information Sharing and Information Acqusition in Credit Markets

open access: yes
Since information asymmetries have been identified as an important source of bank profits, it may seem that the establishment of information sharing arrangements such as credit registers and bureaus will lead to lower investment in acquiring information.

Research on Soft-Switching Power Amplifier for Electromagnetic Bearings

open access: yes
Traditional active magnetic bearing power amplifiers usually adopt hard-switching circuit topologies with simple structures and strong practicability. However, such topologies suffer from high switching losses and easy generation of current noise.

Analysis of a Novel Quasi Parallel Resonant DC Link

open access: yesMajlesi Journal of Electrical Engineering
Soft switching techniques have recently been used for the design of DC-AC converters, in order to achieve better performance, higher efficiency and power density. One of the soft switching techniques applied in inverters is resonant DC links.

Facet‐Specific PbS Quantum Dot Passivation Using Halide Perovskites for SWIR Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
PbS quantum dots (QDs) are emerging as powerful short‐wave infrared photodetectors, yet the passivation mechanism of large QDs by perovskites ‐ critical for their stability ‐ remains unexplained. Here, we unveil the ligand structure of CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPI)‐passivated 4‐nm PbS QDs using FTIR, XPS, SEM, NMR, and DFT.

Shadow‐Free Back‐Contact Perovskite Thin‐Film Detectors for Direct Extreme‐Ultraviolet and Soft X‐Ray Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A triple‐cation perovskite detector with a quasi‐interdigitated back‐contact architecture enables highly sensitive and linear EUV/soft x‐ray detection by minimizing electrode shadowing and enhancing charge extraction. Efficient interfacial carrier collection and rapid temporal response highlight the potential of back‐contact‐engineered perovskites for ...

Two‐Way Shape Memory Polymer Composite Gripper for Adaptive Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A two‐way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite is developed with intrinsic shape‐changing capability driven solely by temperature, eliminating external actuation loads. Embedding the SMP in a low‐stiffness elastomeric matrix enabled reversible transformations during heating and cooling cycles.
