A Constant-Power Battery Charger with Inherent Soft Switching and Power Factor Correction [PDF]
A battery charging circuit, which operates as a constant power source, is proposed in this paper. By maintaining a constant output power throughout the charging process, the circuit reduces the size of thermal installation which would normally be ...

On the Estimation and Control of Human Body Composition
Obesity is a chronic disease that can lead to an increased risk of other serious chronic diseases and even death. We present switching and time-delayed feedback-based model free control methods for the dynamic management of body mass and its major ...

Hybrid fuzzy and sliding-mode control for motorised tether spin-up when coupled with axial vibration [PDF]
A hybrid fuzzy sliding mode controller is applied to the control of motorised tether spin-up coupled with an axial oscillation phenomenon. A six degree of freedom dynamic model of a motorised momentum exchange tether is used as a basis for interplanetary

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Applications of combined MOSFET-IGBT power leg with reduced switching losses [PDF]
This paper discusses power legs built upon the combination of a MOSFET and an IGBT. The suggested combined use of those different switches is intended to be applied in PWM controlled single and three phase inverters.

Analysis of AC link topologies in non-isolated DC/DC triple active bridge converter for current stress minimization [PDF]
This paper presents analysis of the non-isolated DC/DC triple active bridge (TAB) converter under various purely inductor-based AC link topologies. The objective of the analysis is to find the topology that incorporates the least value of the AC link ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Unusual Swelling Behavior of Hydrogels Modified with Spiropyran as Appendage or Crosslinker
Not so innocent after all—spiropyran crosslinkers in methylenebisacrylamide‐crosslinked poly(acrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) hydrogels increase crosslinking density, but also, counterintuitively, increase swelling. Charge complexation, cooperative chemo‐mechanical effects, and aggregation may explain these observations.
