Nanocrystalline soft magnetic composite cores
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2006Abstract The microstructure and soft magnetic properties, i.e. saturation induction, remanence, coercivity and permeability of high-energy ball milled nanostructured FINEMET powder cores and nanocomposite cores with average powder particles diameter between 25 and 75 μm, 300 and 500 μm and 750 and 1200 μm are presented in this paper.

Soft magnetic composite materials (SMCs)
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2007Abstract Soft magnetic composites (SMCs), which are used in electromagnetic applications, can be described as ferromagnetic powder particles surrounded by an electrical insulating film. SMC components are normally manufactured by conventional PM compaction combined with new techniques, such as two step compaction, warm compaction, multi-step and ...

Soft magnetic composites in active magnetic bearings
IEE Colloquium on New Magnetic Materials - Bonded Iron, Lamination Steels, Sintered Iron and Permanent Magnets, 1998Active magnetic bearings are being considered increasingly for high-speed electrical machines, since they eliminate frictional losses and are virtually maintenance-free. However, in addition to the copper loss in the coils, there may be a significant eddy current and hysteresis loss in the soft magnetic rotor.

Magnetic properties of hybrid-soft magnetic composites
Materials Science and Engineering: B, 2009Abstract Soft magnetic composites containing an organic binder and mixtures of two different soft magnetic particles – iron and nano-crystalline Fe73.5Si15.5B7Cu1Nb3 – in varying mixing ratios have been prepared at a total filler fraction x mag = 0.5 and examined regarding the magnetic properties.

Magnetization behavior of hard/soft-magnetic composite pillar
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2008Abstract Hard/soft-magnetic composite pillar array medium is proposed for ultra-high-density recording media. Magnetization reversal process for a single hard/soft-magnetic composite pillar in the medium is calculated using the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation.

Permeability of hybrid soft magnetic composites
Acta Materialia, 2011Abstract The magnetic permeability of a three-phase hybrid soft magnetic composite (SMC) is formulated, extending Eshelby’s equivalent inclusion method to account for the three-phase microstructure of this SMC. The composite contains two kinds of ellipsoidal fillers dispersed in a matrix. All of the components have distinct magnetic properties.

Mimicking soft magnetic composite geometries algorithmically
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2019In this paper we describe an algorithmic method to imitate geometries of soft magnetic composites. We use microscope images to determine some of the most important geometric characteristics of the material and optimize the algorithm such that the measured and simulated characteristics are in agreement.

Soft magnetic composites-materials and applications
IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2003. IEMDC'03., 2003The group of soft magnetic composites (SMCs) have expanded by the introduction of new materials with significantly improved low-medium frequency properties, which has made SMCs a viable alternative to steel laminations in a range of new applications, such as rotating machinery, sensors and fast switching solenoids.

Hard and soft magnetic composites with modified magnetic properties
World Journal of Engineering, 2011The paper deals with methods of tailoring magnetic properties of soft and hard magnetic composites. Comparison of magnetic properties of injection moulding and compression moulding Nd-Fe-B magnets are presented. Magnetic properties of Nd-Fe-B bonded magnets were tailored by different ways such as: amount of resin, addition of barium ferrite, Al or Fe ...
