Transport of soft matter in complex and confined environments [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Brownian motion provides a bedrock for the understanding of soft condensed matter and, therefore, of the physical description of the microscopic biological world. Inspired by this domain, and combining softness with hydrodynamic energy inputs, new physical modes of nanoscale organization and transport may now be accessible.

High‐Speed and Scalable Wet Spinning of Graphene/Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Composite Filaments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polydomain filaments from graphene/liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) composites are scalably‐manufactured by wet spinning across a wide range of diameters (≈137–1128 µm) at a speed up to 4500 m h−1 through a double diffusion coagulation mechanism, enabling fast actuation and optimized mechanical performance for broad applications.

Switching or blinking? – The switching behaviour of single photochromic triads

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Photochromic molecules can be interconverted between two bistable conformations by light [1–3]. Irie and coworkers described a strategy to achieve superior fluorescence characteristics and outstanding switching characteristics of a photochromic unit by ...

Stratum Corneum‐Inspired Zwitterionic Hydrogels with Intrinsic Water Retention and Anti‐Freezing Properties for Intelligent Flexible Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel stratum corneum‐inspired zwitterionic hydrogel is developed for intelligent, flexible sensors, featuring intrinsic water retention and anti‐freezing properties. The quasi‐gel, composed of hygroscopic polymers and bound water, maintains its softness across a wide range of humidity.

Tunable Tactile Synapses Enabled by Erasable Doping in Iongel‐Gated Nanotube Network Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial tactile synaptic sensors are realized by an iongel‐gated single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transistor with reversible doping characteristics. The device senses and memorizes tactile stimuli and exhibits gate bias‐dependent excitatory or inhibitory synaptic behavior.

Inverse problem for multi-body interaction of nonlinear waves

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The inverse problem is studied in multi-body systems with nonlinear dynamics representing, e.g., phase-locked wave systems, standard multimode and random lasers. Using a general model for four-body interacting complex-valued variables we test two methods

The spherical coordinate form of three-dimensional generalized dynamics of soft-matter quasicrystals with 12-fold symmetry [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This article reports the spherical coordinate form of three-dimensional generalized dynamics of soft-matter quasicrystals with 12-fold symmetry which provides a basis for solving initial-boundary value problems of the equations under some important cases. Some relevant solving methods are discussed as well.
