Digital Workflow for the Restoration of the Vertical Dimension of Occlusion Evaluated by 3D Stereophotogrammetry

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To present a digital workflow approach for the full‐mouth rehabilitation of severely worn dentition and to evaluate the impact of vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) rehabilitation on facial parameters assessed by 3D stereophotogrammetry throughout all treatment steps. Clinical Considerations Extensive tooth wear frequently demands

Quadrate orientation and joint reaction force underwent correlated evolution during suchian evolution

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
The quadrate is the cranial bone of the nonmammalian jaw joint. The quadrate has long been hypothesized to mirror the direction of joint reaction forces (JRF) during feeding. This study uses 3D biomechanical modeling to reveal a striking evolutionary link between quadrate orientation and JRF direction, unlocking new insights into the dynamic forces ...

Head and Neck Muscle Activity in Post‐Stroke Dysphagia Patients: Muscle Dynamics and Implications for Rehabilitation

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Surface electromyography (sEMG) was used to collect the electromyographic signals of the head and neck muscles during swallowing and phonatory tasks, revealing the differences in muscle activation levels of patients with dysphagia under different phonatory tasks.

Choristoma of the soft palate

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1990
Choristoma is the pathological term for a developmental tumor-like anomaly consisting of tissues foreign to the site at which it is located. A 3-month-old girl with a choristoma of the soft palate is presented. Its occurrence is extremely rare, as shown by a review of the literature.

Choristoma of the soft palate

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1987
A 2-month-old girl presented with a history of intermittent cyanosis and dyspnea after feeding. This was found to be due to a 2 cm long polypoid lesion attached to her soft palate. This was removed and histologic examination showed it to be choristoma. Three years later she remains well with no evidence of recurrence.
