Existing soft ionic conductors fall into two distinct categories: liquid‐rich ionic conductors containing large amounts of liquid electrolytes (≈70–90 wt.% water for hydrogels and ≈20–80 wt.% ionic liquids for ionogels), and liquid‐free ionic conductors ...

China's “Politics of Harmony” and the Quest for Soft Power in International Politics
This article engages with China's “politics of harmony” to investigate the dangers and possibilities of soft power as a concept and practice. Chinese sources claim that China will be able to exercise soft power due to its tradition of thinking about ...

Soft X-ray spectral variations of the narrow line Seyfert l galaxy Markarian 766 [PDF]
The X-ray variability of the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy Markarian 766 is studied using nine ROSAT PSPC data sets. The spectrum is well described by a power law combined with a blackbody (kT ∼ 70 eV) soft excess.

Voltage-controlled radial wrinkles of a trumpet-like dielectric elastomer structure
Wrinkle is usually considered as one failure mode of membrane structure. However, it can also be harnessed in developing smart devices such as dry adhesion tape, diffraction grating, smart window, etc.

Soft-Collinear Gravity and Soft Theorems [PDF]
This chapter reviews the construction of ``soft-collinear gravity'', the effective field theory which describes the interaction of collinear and soft gravitons with matter (and themselves), to all orders in the soft-collinear power expansion, focusing on the essential concepts.

Shear banding, aging and noise dynamics in soft glassy materials [PDF]
The `soft glassy rheology' (SGR) model gives an appealing account of the flow of nonergodic soft materials in terms of the local yield dynamics of mesoscopic elements. Newtonian, power-law, and yield-stress fluid regimes arise on varying a `noise temperature', x.

Multi-spin soft bootstrap and scalar-vector Galileon [PDF]
We use the amplitude soft bootstrap method to explore the space of effective field theories (EFT) of massless vectors and scalars. It is known that demanding vanishing soft limits fixes uniquely a special class of EFTs: non-linear sigma model, scalar Galileon and Born-Infeld theories.

Thermodynamically-informed Air-based Soft Heat Engine Design [PDF]
Soft heat engines are poised to play a vital role in future soft robots due to their easy integration into soft structures and low-voltage power requirements. Recent works have demonstrated soft heat engines relying on liquid-to-gas phase change materials.

Nonlinear dynamics of soft fermion excitations in hot QCD plasma I: soft-quark - soft-gluon scattering [PDF]
Within the framework of the hard thermal loop effective theory we derive a system of Boltzmann-like kinetic equations taking into account the simplest processes of nonlinear interaction of soft fermionic and bosonic QCD plasma excitations: elastic scattering of soft-(anti)quark excitations off soft-gluon and soft-quark excitations, pair production of ...

What Makes Autocracies’ Soft Power Strategies Special? Evidence from Russia and China [PDF]
The paper problematizes the national soft power strategies of authoritarian states arguing that many of their features stem from those countries’ political regime.
