Using Probability to Reason about Soft Deadlines [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Soft deadlines are significant in systems in which a bound on the response time is important, but the failure to meet the response time is not a disaster. Soft deadlines occur, for example, in telephony and switching networks.

Unusual Swelling Behavior of Hydrogels Modified with Spiropyran as Appendage or Crosslinker

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Not so innocent after all—spiropyran crosslinkers in methylenebisacrylamide‐crosslinked poly(acrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) hydrogels increase crosslinking density, but also, counterintuitively, increase swelling. Charge complexation, cooperative chemo‐mechanical effects, and aggregation may explain these observations.

Design of Full-bridge Soft-switching DC/DC Converter Based on LLC Resonant

open access: yes机车电传动, 2019
In order to adapt to the development trend of high frequency and high power density of converter products, the working principle of LLC resonant soft-switching circuit was mainly introduced, the main mathematical relationship of LLC resonant network was ...

IGBT Dynamic Loss Reduction through Device Level Soft Switching

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Due to its low conduction loss, hence high current ratings, as well as low cost, Silicon Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (Si IGBT) is widely used in high power applications.

Multilayer Soft Photonic Arrays Inspired by Cephalopod Skin for High‐Density, Independent, and Multimodal Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically stacked, DEA‐driven photonic array inspired by cephalopod skin, featuring highly crystalline colloidal crystal gels with vivid color, low FWHM and scalability is presented. The multilayer design removes lateral pixel interference, achieving near‐100% fill factor with fully independent RGB actuation.

Application of natural commutation technique to an improved cycloconverter type high-frequency link inverter with center-tapped transformer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This thesis presents a new isolated cycloconverter type high frequency (HF) link dc to ac power converter (inverter) that consists of three arms of bidirectional switches at transformer secondary.

Domain wall switching: optimizing the energy landscape

open access: yes, 2007
It has recently been suggested that exchange spring media offer a way to increase media density without causing thermal instability (superparamagnetism), by using a hard and a soft layer coupled by exchange. Victora has suggested a figure of merit xi = 2

Selection Strategies for Flexible Pressure Sensor Electrode Materials Toward Ultrafast Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals, for the first time, how the electrode–organic interface governs the temporal performance of flexible pressure sensors. By pairing high‐conductivity CVD PEDOT with commonly used metal electrodes, the authors demonstrate that interfacial energy alignment dictates microsecond‐scale response, providing a straightforward design strategy ...

Analysis of a Novel Soft-Switching DC–DC Converter for Reduction in Switching Loss

open access: yesPower Electronics and Drives
The conventional buck converter is the first and foremost member among the family of DC–DC converters. Major drawback of the conventional buck converter is the hard-switching that leads to many shortcomings and finally leads to poor efficiency.
