Metachronous extraskeletal (soft tissue) epithelioid osteogenic sarcoma: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2019
Background Metachronous osteosarcoma is a rare form of osteosarcoma. The occurrence of metachronous tumor in soft tissue is exceedingly rare. The pathogenesis of metachronous osteosarcoma, as to whether it represents multiple true primaries or metastatic

Adaptation of a MR imaging protocol into a real-time clinical biometric ultrasound protocol for persons with spinal cord injury at risk for deep tissue injury: A reliability study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: High strain in soft tissues that overly bony prominences are considered a risk factor for pressure ulcers (PUs) following spinal cord impairment (SCI) and have been computed using Finite Element methods (FEM).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Unusual chondroblastoma of the hand with large extraosseous soft tissue component

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2022
Chondroblastoma is a rare, benign primary cartilaginous bone tumor that typically arises in the epiphyses of the long bones. Radiologically, a well-defined lytic lesion with thin sclerotic margins is commonly found.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Clear Cell Sarcoma: A Case Report with Radiological and Pathological Features of an Atypical Case

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2012
Clear cell sarcoma of soft tissue is a rare, aggressive soft tissue tumor, which is morphologically similar to malignant melanoma but has no precursor skin lesion and, instead, has a characteristic chromosomal translocation.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Ultrasonography of soft tissue “oops lesions”

open access: yesUltrasonography, 2015
In this article, I would like to define "oops lesions" as soft tissue mass-like lesions that involve surprise or embarrassment for radiologists following the final diagnosis. Examples of "oops lesions" include malignant tumors that appear benign, malignancy-mimicking benign tumors, incorrect identification of epidermal inclusion cysts, and soft tissue ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.
