Software defined cognitive radios
2007 7th International Conference on ASIC, 2007The wide proliferation of wireless services and applications with increasing bandwidth needs is rapidly creating a spectrum shortage. However, the problem is caused primarily by inefficient legacy spectrum allocation policies, so that even when some applications suffer from lack of bandwidth, there is idle capacity in other bands.

In this demo, we showcase the first software defined radio (SDR) implementation that runs on today's smartphones. Using the SDR, the smartphones are shown to talk to real IEEE 802.15.4 devices such as sensor motes or Phillips Hue (TM) lightbulbs that otherwise they cannot natively communicate with. Furthermore, we make the SDR available as downloadable

Hacking Satellites With Software Defined Radio
2020 AIAA/IEEE 39th Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC), 2020The race to put satellites into space has attracted new commercial players and amateur satellite operators. Even though these satellites rise level of new innovations and services for consumers, lack of regulations and standards consequently brings solutions which are not so well protected.

Summary form only given. Looking through my word processor files I found that I have authored 15 papers and numerous PowerPoint presentations and tutorials that include the words software defined radio or SDR somewhere in the title. One would think that I would have some understanding of what is a software defined radio.

Advances in software defined radio
Annales Des Télécommunications, 2002Progress in software defined radio has been rapid, since the term was first coined in the mid 1990s. In this brief overview we summarise some of the recent advances in software defined radio from a range of technology perspectives — radio frequency design, baseband reconfigurability, reconfigurable applications and protocols and regulatory (and related

Active duplexing for Software Defined Radio
2014 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2014Passive filters are implemented via advanced technologies in the form of surface acoustic wave (SAW) and thin film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) devices. These not only exhibit low noise and high linearity features, but also have fixed centre frequency and bandwidth, making them inflexible.

Software-Defined Radio Technologies
2005Thanks to recent advancement of semiconductor technology, it is now possible to process high-speed communication signals in wireless telecommunication system using as much digital technology as possible. This makes the system very flexible and adaptive. Such a technology is called software-defined radio, or simply software radio. This chapter describes
