Versioned software architecture
Proceedings of the third international workshop on Software architecture, 1998In this position paper we introduce a novel use of software architecture. Rather than following the traditional focus on design, we propose to use the notion of versioned software architecture to support other activities in the software life cycle.

Software Architecture: The Next Step
2004This position paper makes the following claims that, in our opinion, are worthwhile to discuss at the workshop. 1) The first phase of software architecture research, where the key concepts are components and connectors, has matured the technology to a level where industry adoption is wide-spread and few fundamental issues remain.

A software architecture for telerobotics
Proceedings Sixth Euromicro Workshop on Real-Time Systems, 2002Describes a currently developed software architecture for telerobotics, based on a high-level and interpreted language, PILOT (Programming and Interpreted Language Of actions for Telerobotics), allowing one to plan the actions of a robot. Such a language allows the operator to modify a mission during its execution.

Evaluating Software Architectures
2004Abstract As software systems become increasingly complex, the need to investigate and evaluate them at high levels of abstraction becomes more important. When systems are very complex, evaluating the system from an architectural level is necessary in order to understand the structure and interrelationships among the components of the system.

Software usability architectures
2008 8th IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology, 2008Catering for software usability is no longer an exclusive responsibility of client-side systems, as it is also necessary to consider the content, the network, the user, the device and the natural environment. This necessitates the development of new systems, such as personalisation systems, which can adapt multimedia content and manage shared resources.

SPECIFICATION OF SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE
International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, 2000Over the past several years, software architecture representation and analysis has become an active area of research. However, most approaches to software architecture representation and analysis have been informal. We postulate that through formality, the term "architecture" can be precisely defined and important properties of systems, such as ...

Software Architecture Evolution
2013Many software systems eventually undergo changes to their basic architectural structure. Such changes may be prompted by new feature requests, new quality attribute requirements, changing technology, or other reasons. Whatever the causes, architecture evolution is commonplace in real-world software projects.

Diagnostic Software Architectures
1998A critical distinguishing characteristic of architectures for families of embedded systems is their relative need for errordetection and-management. This need can range from extreme, as occurs with nearly all life-rated systems, to nominal, such as might occur with simple, inexpensive toys.

Proceedings. 1997 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy (Cat. No.97CB36097), 2002
The computer industry is increasingly dependent on open architectural standards for their competitive success. This paper describes a new approach to secure system design in which the various representations of the architecture of a software system are described formally and the desired security properties of the system are proven to hold at the ...
