Algorithmic cost estimation for software evolution

Proceedings of the 2000 International Conference on Software Engineering. ICSE 2000 the New Millennium, 2000
This study addresses the problem of cost estimation in the context of software evolution by building a set of quantitative models and assessing their predictive power. The models aim at capturing the relationship between effort, productivity and a suite of metrics of software evolution extracted from empirical data sets.

A model for software development effort and cost estimation

IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1997
Several algorithmic models have been proposed to estimate software costs and other management parameters. Early prediction of completion time is absolutely essential for proper advance planning and aversion of the possible ruin of a project. L.H. Putnam's (1978) SLIM (Software LIfecycle Management) model offers a fairly reliable method that is used ...

IASCE: an intelligent assistant to software cost estimation

Proceedings Fourth International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence TAI '92, 2003
A CASE (computer-aided software design) tool called IASCE has been developed to help the project manager estimate a proposed project cost. This tool collects accurate data from current software so that researchers can explore new software models and metrics.

A neuro-fuzzy model for software cost estimation

Third International Conference on Quality Software, 2003. Proceedings., 2003
A novel neuro-fuzzy constructive cost model (COCOMO) for software estimation is proposed. The model carries some of the desirable features of the neuro-fuzzy approach, such as learning ability and good interpretability, while maintaining the merits of the COCOMO model.

Software cost estimation through conceptual requirement

Third International Conference on Quality Software, 2003. Proceedings., 2003
Software cost estimation is vital for the effective control and management of the whole software development process. Currently, the constructive cost model (COCOMO II) is the most popular tool for estimating software cost. It uses lines of code and function points to assess software size.

A Pitfall of estimated software cost

2010 2nd IEEE International Conference on Information Management and Engineering, 2010
A pitfall hidden in the software cost estimation process is presented. Software project cost estimation process based on the quantile estimation software project cost distribution is not sub-additive and produce unrealistic cost estimates. Sub-additive is the process where the estimation of parts is less than or equal to the estimation of the whole ...

Software Cost and Risk Estimation

1985
Cost and risk estimation is a highly skilled activity that requires much experience. It is a crucial part of requirements analysis in that it determines whether or not a system is to be developed at all.
