Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG) acutely inhibited gluconeogenesis and enhanced glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in perfused rat livers. Mechanistic assays revealed mitochondrial uncoupling, inhibition of pyruvate carboxylation and glucose‐6‐phosphatase, shift of NADH/NAD+ ratios toward oxidation, and loss of membrane integrity ...

Sarcosine oxidase from Bacillus sp. (SoxB) recognizes l‐proline (l‐Pro), d‐proline (d‐Pro), and l‐thioproline (l‐Tpr) as minor substrates. In this study, we measured their absorption spectra, determined the crystal structures of their enzyme complexes, and performed site‐directed mutagenesis of key residues.

Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.

Generative Software Engineering
Researching evermore abstract and powerful ways of composing programs is the meat of software engineering for half a century. Important early steps were subroutines (to encapsulate actions) and records (to encapsulate data). A large step forward came with the introduction of the object-oriented concepts (classes, subclasses and virtual methods) where ...

CDT1 is an essential protein for DNA replication licensing that loads the MCM complex, the eukaryotic replicative DNA helicase, onto replication origins. Overexpression of CDT1 induces cell cycle arrest at the S phase. Here we showed CDT1 inhibits the progression of replication forks by interacting with the MCM complex, leading to the stalling and ...
