Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Continuous Reproducibility in GNSS Signal Processing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper discusses the reproducibility of scientific experiments in which global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals play a role. After analyzing the factors that impact the reproducibility of an experiment in the given context, this paper ...

A software toolkit for radio frequency data terminals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This thesis is concerned with the computer industry of "automatic identification.” Central to automatic identification is the use of barcodes and related technologies, including wireless computer networks and Radio Frequency Data Terminals (RFDTs) RFDTs ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

The Visible Radio: Process Visualization of a Software-Defined Radio [PDF]

open access: yesVIS 05. IEEE Visualization, 2005., 2006
In this case study, a data-oriented approach is used to visualize a complex digital signal processing pipeline. The pipeline implements a frequency modulated (FM) software-defined radio (SDR). SDR is an emerging technology where portions of the radio hardware, such as filtering and modulation, are replaced by software components.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Cross layer protocol architecture for spectrum‐based routing in cognitive radio networks

open access: yesIET Networks
New cell phone services and apps consume more spectrum. Wireless spectrum allows services and apps to communicate with one another. Wi‐Fi quality is improved via smart spectrum usage and new CRT services. The use of spectrum is beneficial.

Modulation classification based on denoising autoencoder and convolutional neural network with GNU radio

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In this article, a machine learning method to classify signal with Gaussian noise based on denoising auto encoder (DAE) and convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed. We combine denoising autoencoder's denoising ability with CNN's feature extraction

A Platform for the Development of Software Defined Radio [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE 18th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2007
This paper describes the development of an SDR (software defined radio) platform for use in investigating the requirements for implementing many popular standards such as GSM, WiFi and 3G through SDR. The first stage of this work is to generate specifications for an SDR implementation from various wireless standard requirements.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
