Verified trustworthy software systems [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2017
Modern society is faced with a fundamental problem: the reliability of complex, evolving software systems on which society critically depends cannot be guaranteed by the established, non-mathematical computer engineering techniques such as informal prose specification and ad hoc testing.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Integrating automated support for a software management cycle into the TAME system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Software managers are interested in the quantitative management of software quality, cost and progress. An integrated software management methodology, which can be applied throughout the software life cycle for any number purposes, is required. The TAME (

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Multi‐omic characterization of consensus molecular subtype 1 (CMS1) colorectal cancer with dampened immune response improves precision medicine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of multi‐omic analyses in characterizing colorectal cancers. Indeed, our analysis revealed a rare CMS1 exhibiting dampened immune activation, including reduced PD‐1 expression, moderate CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, and suppressed JAK/STAT pathway.

The Science of Software and System Design [PDF]

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2018
Abstract Software enables impressive cyber-physical system applications, but also dominates the costs and perils of designing such systems. Is there a science of software and system design? This paper reflects on this question, and identifies opportunities for interactions with the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Using process mapping software to redesign a management system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Management Systems are becoming de rigueur for Organisations, but many with existing Management Systems are finding that they are creaking at the seams. Changes to Standards, Regulations, Business Practices, Organisation structures and Products mean that
