The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

When governments act as strategists: Geopolitical turmoil and global strategy theory
Abstract Research Summary The resurgence of geopolitical rivalry is challenging core assumptions of global strategy theory. Long‐standing views that economic interdependence is inherently beneficial, governments act as rule setters, multinational enterprises operate autonomously, and market and political strategy are separate no longer capture today's ...

This study produced bio‐based polyols from lignin using microwave liquefaction with bio‐derived solvents. The process was optimized by adjusting solvent composition and catalyst type to obtain high yields and a suitable hydroxyl number. Foams made from lignin‐based polyols showed comparable properties to commercial products.

Blending sodium lignosulfonate with softwood kraft lignin generates stable, high‐consistency aqueous suspensions. The lignosulfonate efficiently coats and disperses the kraft lignin particles, producing a thick, extrudable paste. This fully bio‐based, solvent‐free approach demonstrates great potential as a sustainable wood adhesive, paving the way for ...

Bio‐derived lignin–Eosin Y macromolecular networks are developed as visible‐light‐responsive self‐sterilizing coatings that generate reactive oxygen species without leaching. The spray‐coated photopolymerized surfaces exhibit durable antibacterial and antiviral activity under ambient light for extended periods, demonstrating a scalable and sustainable ...

Reinforcement and Rheology of Epoxy‐Mediated Lignin Integration in Carboxylated Nitrile Rubber
The interaction of lignin‐epoxy resin‐XNBR and the effect of lignin on the nonlinear rheological behavior of epoxy‐cured XNBR/lignin composites. ABSTRACT Lignin has attracted increasing interest as a renewable filler for rubber composites; however, it shows weaker reinforcing efficiency than conventional fillers such as carbon black and silica ...

Facilitation influences when trees grow, but not growth rate in a dry temperate forest
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Accurately predicting the role of forests in the global carbon cycle requires a detailed understanding of the factors mediating the timing and magnitude of radial stem growth. While weather conditions and topo‐edaphic factors play a critical role in mediating short‐term

Sandblasting Wood as a Technique of Simulated Weathering
While most efforts are aimed at preventing the surface roughening and colour change of wood due to weathering, some customers, mainly for decorative reasons, want wooden objects and elements to give the impression that they have been weathered for a long

Our work establishes that previously observed challenges in advance regeneration contribute to poor recovery following harvests and natural disturbances in northern USA forests. Shifts towards lower severity harvesting in the region may be exacerbating post‐disturbance regeneration challenges, ultimately leading to low tree species richness and novel ...
