Growth, mortality and regeneration responses to ecological forestry treatments are shaped by local factors, species, and initial treatment impact

In mixed stands, coniferous species showed growth benefits when coexisting with broadleaf species, possibly due to reduced intraspecific competition or improved access to resources mediated by broadleaf neighbours. Greenhouse Gas Reduction Potential Through Bioheat for Remote Communities in Northeastern Ontario

Heating infrastructure in remote areas has high potential for fuel switching, possibly leading to decreased greenhouse gas emissions. Using a simplified life cycle analysis approach, we show that woody residues from the forest industry have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to commonly used fossil fuels.
