Planar Josephson junctions in germanium: Effect of cubic spin-orbit interaction [PDF]
Planar Josephson junctions comprising semiconductors with strong spin-orbit interaction (SOI) are promising platforms to host Majorana bound states (MBSs). Previous works on MBSs in planar Josephson junctions have focused on electron gases, where SOI is linear in momentum.

Optimized sensitivity of Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) strip waveguide resonator sensor.
Evanescent field sensors have shown promise for biological sensing applications. In particular, Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI)-nano-photonic based resonator sensors have many advantages for lab-on-chip diagnostics, including high sensitivity for molecular ...

Heartbeat of the Southern Oscillation explains ENSO climatic resonances
Abstract The El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) nonlinear oscillator phenomenon has a far reaching influence on the climate and human activities. The up to 10 year quasi‐period cycle of the El Niño and subsequent La Niña is known to be dominated in the tropics by nonlinear physical interaction of wind with the equatorial waveguide in the Pacific. Long‐

In certain applications, signal transmit power is adjusted in discrete levels. Moreover, interference powers themselves can be discretely random. For electronic intelligence applications, the authors refer to the signal to be collected as signal of interest (SoI). Thus, for a passive receiver, the resulting instantaneous SoI‐to‐interference power ratio

Electrical tuning of Rashba spin-orbit interaction in multigated InAs nanowires [PDF]
Indium arsenide (InAs) nanowires (NWs) are a promising platform to fabricate quantum electronic devices, among others they have strong spin-orbit interaction (SOI). The controlled tuning of the SOI is desired in spin based quantum devices. In this study we investigate the possibility of tuning the SOI by electrostatic field, which is generated by a ...

Electric and Magnetic Gating of Rashba-Active Weak Links [PDF]
In a one-dimensional weak-link wire the spin-orbit interaction (SOI) alone cannot generate a nonzero spin current. We show that a Zeeman field acting in the wire in conjunction with the Rashba SOI there does yield such a current, whose magnitude and ...

A Monolithic High‐G SOI‐MEMS Accelerometer for Measuring Projectile Launch and Flight Accelerations
Analog Devices (ADI) has designed and fabricated a monolithic high‐g acceleration sensor (ADXSTC3‐HG) fabricated with the ADI silicon‐on‐insulator micro‐electro‐mechanical system (SOI‐MEMS) process. The SOI‐MEMS sensor structure has a thickness of 10 um, allowing for the design of inertial sensors with excellent cross‐axis rejection.
