Classical Emergence of Intrinsic Spin-Orbit Interaction of Light at the Nanoscale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Traditionally, in macroscopic geometrical optics intrinsic polarization and spatial degrees of freedom of light can be treated independently. However, at the subwavelength scale these properties appear to be coupled together, giving rise to the spin ...

Nonequilibrium Rashba field driven domain wall motion in ferromagnetic nanowires [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 87, 184415 (2013), 2013
We study the effects of spin-orbit interaction (SOI) on the current-induced motion of a magnetic (Bloch) domain wall in ultrathin ferromagnetic nanowires. The conspiracy of spin relaxation and SOI is shown to generate a novel strong nonequilibrium Rashba field, which is dominant even for moderate SOI.

Electron Charge Sensor with Hole Current Operating at Cryogenic Temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
When SOI-PMOS functions like a capacitor-less 1T-DRAM cell, it is possible for the number of electrons to be sensed at cryogenic temperatures (5K). We developed a structure that combines SOI-NMOS and SOI-PMOS with multiple gates to form a silicon quantum-dot array.

Heterogeneously integrated long-wavelength VCSEL using silicon high contrast grating on an SOI substrate.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
We report an electrically pumped hybrid cavity AlGaInAs-silicon long-wavelength VCSEL using a high contrast grating (HCG) reflector on a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate.

Spin orbit-induced anisotropic conductivity of a disordered 2DEG

open access: yes, 2009
We present a semi-automated computer-assisted method to generate and calculate diagrams in the disorder averaging approach to disordered 2D conductors with intrinsic spin-orbit interaction (SOI).

Strong Spin-Orbit Interaction Induced in Graphene by Monolayer WS$_2$

open access: yes, 2018
We demonstrate strong anisotropic spin-orbit interaction (SOI) in graphene induced by monolayer WS$_2$. Direct comparison between graphene/monolayer WS$_2$ and graphene/bulk WS$_2$ system in magnetotransport measurements reveals that monolayer transition

Il genocidio in Rwanda. Da guerra civile a guerra regionale

open access: yesStoricamente, 2010
Since the time of independence Rwanda has had a number of so-called ethnic violence episodes. In most of the cases an instrumental use of violence from the central government to keep power through perpetuation of social divisions.

Characteristics of Non-Irradiated and Irradiated Double SOI Integration Type Sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We are developing monolithic pixel sensors based on a 0.2 $\mu$m fully-depleted Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) technology for HEP experiment applications. The total ionizing dose (TID) effect is the major issue in the applications for hard radiation environments in HEP experiments.

Resonant 2D-2D tunneling with account for spin-orbit interaction [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 93, 195405 (2016), 2015
We present a theory of quantum tunneling between 2D layers with account for Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interaction (SOI) in the layers. Energy and momentum conservation results in a single resonant peak in the tunnel conductance between two 2D layers as has been experimentally observed for two quantum wells (QW) in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures ...

Performance analysis of SOI MOSFET with rectangular recessed channel

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper a two dimensional (2D) rectangular recessed channel–silicon on insulator metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (RRC-SOI MOSFET), using the concept of groove between source and drain regions, which is one of the channel ...
