ABSTRACT The Amazon Basin is home to the world's greatest terrestrial biodiversity, but many plant groups remain poorly studied. One example is the mycoheterotrophic genus Thismia (Thismiaceae), which is notable for its highly specialized floral morphology and ephemeral life cycles, making it difficult to detect in the field and limiting its ...

Key to nine ubiquitous soil-borne Phoma-like fungi
The differentiating characteristics on agar-media of Pyrenochaeta acicola, Phoma chrysanthemicola, P. eupyrena, P. fimeti, P. glomerata, P. herbarum, P. medicaginis var. pinodella, and P. prunicola are discussed and illustrated. In a supplementary note the nomenclature of Pyrenochaeta acicola, Phoma chrysanthemicola, P. eupyrena, and P.

An Economical Bioprocess for Lipopeptide Production From Bacillus subtilis
The lipopeptide (LP) production potential of Bacillus isolates was evaluated against phytopathogenic fungi, with B. subtilis 4‐Ka‐22 identified as the top‐performing strain. Optimization of the production medium—comprising molasses, soybean meal, CaCl2, and glycerol—resulted in a 13.4‐fold increase in cell growth and over 99% cost reduction compared to

Control of sudden death in cultivated proteas from the Southwest of Western Australia
Phytophthora cinnamomi Rands is a common and devastating pathogen of cultivated proteas worldwide. Webb (1997) described a Sudden Death plant disease of proteas in Western Australia (WA) protea plantations.

Shotgun metagenomic sequencing was used to characterize the functional potential of the Allium ampeloprasum rhizosphere microbiome under chemical fertilizer (G1), biofertilizer (G2), and unfertilized (Bulk) soil (G3) management practices. This study revealed that different fertilization regimes altered microbial functional profiles.
