Shake Table Testing of Seismic Soil-Foundation-Structure-Interaction
This research involves shake table testing of 1g scale models that mimic the coupled seismic response of a structure on a shallow mat foundation and the foundation soil (termed soil-foundation-structure-interaction or SFSI). In previous research, SFSI effects have been quantified through analytical models, numerical analyses, and limited field data ...

Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction Effects on urban scale Vulnerability Assessment
Urban-scale seismic risk assessment is of paramount importance to identify the impact of future earthquakes in cities, to assist national authorities in risk mitigations policies as well as after seismic event emergency management. To date, a seismic risk assessment framework at a large scale is assessed considering a portfolio of fixed-base structures.

Dynamic Reductions for the Nonlinear Soil-Foundation-Structure System Interactions [PDF]
The article presents new dynamic superelements for DOF (degrees of freedom) reduction. Proposed spectral superelements (SES) are based on the method of normal coordinates. The developed superelements with basis nodes (SEB) for the inhomogeneous systems are also shown. Proposed superelements ensure to obtain the diagonal matrix of masses which allow to

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

The influence of soil–foundation–structure interaction on the overall behaviour and diseases of a medieval building in Pisa [PDF]
The University of Pisa was established in 1343, but it was only in the 16th century that a specific venue, Palazzo La Sapienza, was built. The building was subjected to various modifications in relation to the users’ requirements, with the following irregular structural growth due the absence of a specific and organized global and general scheme.
