Soil solution in Swiss forest stands: A 20 year's time series.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Soil solution chemistry is influenced by atmospheric deposition of air pollutants, exchange processes with the soil matrix and soil-rhizosphere-plant interactions.

Comparative environmental assessment of three systems for organic pig production in Denmark [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Organic pig production has emerged as an alternative to the intensive conventional pig production in Europe with the animals confined indoors and often an imbalance between livestock and land for feed production and manure utilisation.

Long-term field metal extraction by pelargonium:phytoextraction efficiency in relation to plant maturity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The long length of periods required for effective soil remediation via phytoextraction constitutes a weak point that reduces its industrial use. However, these calculated periods are mainly based on short-term and/or hydroponic controlled experiments ...

Functionally complementary bacterial inoculant coordinates arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to improve Angelica sinensis root yield and quality

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Comprehensive understanding of how diverse PGPR strains enhance the rhizosphere microenvironment remains a considerable challenge. Here, we provide experimental evidence that a functionally synergistic composite microbial formulation can markedly enhance growth performance and improve the quality attributes in Angelica sinensis.

Development of an Efficient and Scalable Process for Preparing Timolol N‐Nitrosamine Impurities B, C, E, H, I, J, and Their ADMET Evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, EarlyView.
N‐nitrosamine impurities (B, C, E, H, I, J) of timolol maleate are easily synthesized from diethyl malonate and 3,4‐dichloro‐1,2,5‐thiadiazole. Good yields and precise impurity profiling are made possible by the effective technique, which also ensures pharmaceutical safety and strengthens regulatory compliance.

Effects of long-term straw application and groundwater management on acidification of paddy soils in subtropical China: Insight from a 35-year field experiment

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
As an important renewable agricultural by-product, straw application has been recommended worldwide as an effective and economical agricultural management practice. However, there remain potential risks associated with straw application, especially straw-

Boron availability and fertilizer response of maize in soils from sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Low boron (B) availability is associated with strongly weathered, coarse‐textured, and low organic matter soils, widespread in sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA). It is unknown to what extent B fertilization can increase maize yields in SSA.

Iron Fertilization of Soybean Genotypes Differing in Iron Use Efficiency Under Alkaline Conditions: Implications for Yield and Seed Nutritional Quality

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Soybean, a nutritionally important protein‐ and oil‐rich legume, is highly sensitive to iron (Fe) deficiency under alkaline conditions, where reduced Fe availability limits growth, yield, and seed quality. Effective biofortification therefore requires increasing seed Fe while reducing phytate that restricts Fe bioavailability.

Microbial diversity and abundance in different acidified soils from mature pomelo planting orchard

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Horticultural Science
Summary Soil acidification poses significant threats to the ecological environment and agricultural productivity in southern China. However, the variations in soil microbial communities along the acidic gradient profile remain poorly understood.
