Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

The ecosystem approach to understanding of soils in geography

open access: yesRevija za Geografijo, 2015
In International soil year of 2015, there are different activities going on to raise awarness about the importance of soils in the ecosystem. Soil for a long time now does not have only a cultivation role, but performs a lot of other roles, from water ...

Comparing soil boundaries delineated by digital analysis of multispectral scanner data from high and low spatial resolution systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The author has identified the following significant results. Computer-aided analysis techniques used with aircraft MSS data showed that the spatial resolution was sufficient to recognize each soil mapping unit of the test site. Some difficulties occurred

A field study to assess the degradation and transport of diuron and its metabolites in a calcareous soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
An experimental plot has been established on a calcareous soil in southern England to investigate the fate and transport of diuron (N'-[3,4-dichlorophenyl]-NN-dimethylurea), a commonly used phenylurea herbicide.

Silicified Wood‐Inspired, High‐Strength Fire‐Resistant Chitin‐Based Aerogels for Sustainable High‐Temperature Thermal Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural silicified wood, a biomimetic mineralized chitin‐derived aerogel is constructed. It can withstand 81 000 times its own weight, and its backside temperature is 130.4°C after exposure to ∼1300°C butane flame for 600 s, exhibiting high‐strength, fire‐resistance, and super thermal‐insulation properties.

Determination of 26 polychlorinated biphenyls congeners in soil samples using microwave-assisted extraction with open vessel and gas chromatography

open access: yesGreen Chemistry Letters and Reviews, 2018
A procedure focused on microwave-assisted extraction in open vessel (MAE-OV) and gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC-ECD) was used for the determination of 26 congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in soil samples.
