Interactive effect of soil pore network structure and substrate quality on soil CO2 production: a combined X-ray CT incubation experiment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The role of soil structure in organic matter (OM) stabilization has been primarily investigated through physical fractionation studies operative at the scale of aggregates and smaller organo-mineral particles.

Paving the Way to Elucidate Hg's Role in Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumorigenesis can result from diverse environmental carcinogens. Among them, mercury—a lifelong bioaccumulative Group 2B carcinogen—has tumorigenic potential that remains poorly understood due to confounding co‐exposures and limited organ‐specific data.

An Increasing Misalignment Between Crop Distribution and Environmental Resources Under Climate Change in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Climate change reshapes the spatial alignment between crop production and environmental resources. Using multi‐source data and a crop model, integrated climatic, water, and soil endowments for maize and wheat are quantified and compared with harvest distributions.

Influence of Wrap-Around Facing Types on the Seismic Response of Reinforced Loess Slopes: A Comparative Study of Two Seismic Waves

open access: yesBuildings
To promote the application of wrap-around reinforced soil structures in high-intensity seismic regions, this study systematically investigated the influence of different wrap-around facing types on the seismic performance of reinforced loess slopes ...

Targeting the right input data to improve crop modeling at global level : [ePoster abstract Gc13B-1085] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Designed for location-specific simulations, the use of crop models at a global level raises important questions. Crop models are originally premised on small unit areas where environmental conditions and management practices are considered homogeneous ...

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Drop Nozzle from a Remotely Piloted Aerial Application System Reduces Spray Displacement

open access: yesDrones
Weeds remain one of the major limiting factors affecting agricultural production, causin significant yield loss globally. Spot spraying of resistant weeds as an alternative to broadcast applications provides the delivery of chemicals closer to the plant ...
