Interfacial Engineering in Rare‐Earth Oxide/ZnO Heterojunctions for High‐Performance Trimethylamine Sensing and Fish Freshness Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study realizes superior gas sensing performance via Yb2O3/ZnO heterojunction design, achieving highly sensitive/selective trimethylamine detection at room temperature while elucidating the intrinsic sensing mechanism. This innovation is applied to reliable real‐time fish freshness monitoring, paving a feasible way for translating advanced material

Microbial biomass and basal respiration of selected Sub-Antarctic and Antarctic soils in the areas of some Russian polar stations

open access: yes, 2014
. Antarctica is a unique place for soil, biological, and ecological investigations. Soils of Antarctica have been studied intensively during the last century, when different national Antarctic expeditions visited the sixth continent with the aim of ...

NIR‐II Imaging‐Guided Photothermal Activation of a TRPV4‐Targeted Nanoplatform Delivering Cycloastragenol to Promote Microglia Reprogramming and α‐Synuclein Clearance in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current therapies for Parkinson's disease (PD) fail to concurrently address α‐synuclein (α‐syn) aggregation and microglia‐mediated neuroinflammation. Herein, we engineer a near‐infrared‐II (NIR‐II) phototheranostic nanoplatform, CAG/FD1080@MM‐aTRPV4, for synergistic regulation of microglial function and real‐time monitoring of PD pathology. We

What will long-term experiments deliver? Key results of 12 experiments on different continents. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Twelve long-term experiments have been used to describe the main management effects of organic farming systems. The experiments were mostly used to compare various types of organic and conventional cropping systems, or to study fertilisation effects ...

Asymmetric warming significantly affects net primary production, but not ecosystem carbon balances of forest and grassland ecosystems in northern China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We combine the process-based ecosystem model (Biome-BGC) with climate change-scenarios based on both RegCM3 model outputs and historic observed trends to quantify differential effects of symmetric and asymmetric warming on ecosystem net primary ...

A Novel GmSIN1‐GmRNF1a‐GmCSN5a Module Determines Soybean Salt Tolerance and Yield Under Saline Soil Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soybean production is severely threatened by salt stress. This study reveals that the GmSIN1‐GmRNF1a‐GmCSN5a module enhances salt tolerance by stabilizing the GmSIN1 protein. GmRNF1a acts as an E3 ligase to ubiquitinate GmSIN1 for degradation, a process inhibited by GmCSN5a.

Alcohol Consumption Is a Risk Factor of Surgical Site Infection After Minimally Invasive Surgery: A Secondary Observational Analysis of a Clinical Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Alcohol consumption was independently associated with Surgical Site Infection in the gastroenterological Minimally Invasive Surgery. Whether preoperative abstinence from alcohol prevents the occurrence of SSI warrants further investigation. ABSTRACT Background Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of the postoperative complications. Risk factors for SSI

Scale‐up of Streptomyces species cultivations based on the morphological response to the energy dissipation rate

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Filamentous microorganisms exhibit complex morphologies that influence product formation and are affected by various bioprocess parameters. Consistent morphology is therefore essential for comparable results during scale‐up. This study investigates the scale‐up of Streptomyces species (Streptomyces spp.) cultivations from shake flasks to ...
