Plants are promising materials for building sustainable and eco‐friendly robots due to their inherent multifunctionality, with actuation playing a crucial role. This article focuses on the physical movements of plants and, from the perspective of actuation characteristics, explores representative plant species and their behaviors, the current state of ...

The Gut Microbiota Regulates Motor Deficits via Butyrate in a Gnal+/− Mouse Model of DYT25 Dystonia
The present study provides compelling evidence for a modulatory role of the gut microbiota in the pathology of DYT25 dystonia, and butyrate supplementation alleviates the motor deficits of dystonia in Gnal+/− mice. Abstract Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder, following essential tremor and Parkinson's disease. The underlying mechanisms

Lessons from upstream soil conservation measures to mitigate soil erosion and its impact on upstream and downstream users of the Nile River [PDF]
A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of soil bunds stabilized with vetiver grass (V. zizanioides) and tree lucerne (C. palmensis) on selected soil physical and chemical properties, bund height, inter-terrace slope and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

Intercalation‐Induced Phase Transitions in Ferroelectric α‐In2Se3
Using the electrolyte gating technique, the van der Waals ferroelectric semiconductor α‐In2Se3 undergoes a series of transitions from a ferroelectric semiconductor to a dirty metal and finally to a metal, accompanied by a structural transformation. Concurrently, the ferroelectric hysteresis window progressively narrows and eventually disappears with ...

Relationships between soil moisture-holding properties and soil texture, organic matter content, and bulk density [PDF]
Specimens from the surface horizon and the subsoil of 62 soil horizons in Hedmark and Oppland were investigated to study how the mechanical composition of the soil, the organic matter content and the bulk density affect their porosity and air capacity ...

From Grave to Cradle: Kombucha Waste for Sustainable Electronics
This study introduces a sustainable method to purify kombucha bacterial cellulose (KBC) with sodium bicarbonate and hydrogen peroxide, avoiding harsh chemicals. KBC films are patterned with gold and function as pressure sensors for flatfoot gait detection. At the end‐of‐life, the KBC‐based device biodegrades in soil, leaving environmentally benign gold

Photogrammetry method for determining soil aggregate bulk density
The classical cloth method used to measure soil aggregate bulk density (Pagg), which is commonly applied to air-dried clods between 4 and 10 cm in diameter, results in most cases tedious and time consuming. This paper uses the photogrammetry (PHM) method for determining the bulk density of soil aggregates with diameter ranging between 1 and 8 mm.
