Decontaminating soil organic pollutants with manufactured nanoparticles

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2016
Organic pollutants in soils might threaten the environmental and human health. Manufactured nanoparticles are capable to reduce this risk efficiently due to their relatively large capacity of sorption and degradation of organic pollutants. Stability, mobility, and reactivity of nanoparticles are prerequisites for their efficacy in soil remediation.

Adsorptive decontamination of Cu2+-contaminated water and soil by carboxylated graphene oxide/chitosan/cellulose composite beads.

Environmental Research, 2019
Graphene adsorbents have been applied to remove diverse pollutants from aqueous systems. However, the mechanical strength of most graphene adsorbents is low and the fragile graphene sheets are released into the environment.

Decontamination of soil containing oil by natural attenuation, phytoremediation and chemical desorption

International journal of phytoremediation, 2019
An experiment was performed for 240 days to evaluate the oil removal through natural attenuation (NA) and phytoremediation (PH) combined with surfactant (SF), in soil up to 76,585 mg kg−1 of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH).

Chemical decontamination of PCB-contaminated soil

Chemosphere, 1997
PCB-contaminated soil was treated using the BCD (Base Catalyzed Decomposition) process to study the PCB removal performance of this process. NaHCO3 was augmented into the soil to reduce PCB concentration. It was found that PCBs underwent partial dechlorination and PCB degradation, during which organic matter in the soil performed as hydrogen donors ...

Dose Estimation in Recycling of Decontamination Soil Resulting From The Fukushima NPS Accident For Road Embankments

Health Physics, 2018
Since the Fukushima nuclear power station accident, large quantities of radiocesium-contaminated soil generated from decontamination activities have been stored in Fukushima prefecture. To complete the final disposal of decontamination soil, reducing the

Decontamination of soil contaminated with petroleum grease

International Journal of Risk Assessment and Management, 2009
Contamination modifies the engineering properties of soil, thereby restricting its further use either as a construction material or as a supporting medium. Due to the scarcity of land, it becomes imperative to reuse the land for infrastructure developmental activities.

Recultivation of Decontaminated Soil by a Thermic Treatment

1990
Thermic treatment of soils polluted with organic compounds is a usefull decontamination method. The aim of this study was to prove 10 different treatments for the soil recultivation. Preliminary investigations showed that the thermic treatment of the soil caused changes in the physical and chemical characteristics.

Decontamination of soil burdened with Cr(VI)

2009
Demonstrated in the experimental investigations (chapter 3.1 and 3.2) conversion of Cr(VI) contaminated soil to C.M500™ and Xbase™ provides the possibility to reduce the ecological risk of Cr(VI). Other toxicologically relevant heavy metals (i.e. lead, Nickel, Copper, Zinc, …) are immobilized by emplacement within the ceramic matrix of the Xbase ...

Microbiological Decontamination of Excavated Soil

1986
Micro-organisms have been used since time immemorial in the treatment of wastes, such as organic refuse and domestic and industrial waste waters. From this practice stems the use of microbial techniques for soil decontamination. The present article discusses the state of the art in the Netherlands and touches upon current and future developments in the
