Role of Air Flow on Changing Soil Properties and Plant Nutrition in Egyptian Alluvial Soil

open access: yes, 2021
Study the effect of air flow on changing some soil properties and plant nutrition is highly important to increase crop quality and productivity. The pot experiment was carried out focusing on Agric faba bean C.V.

The density of the lunar surface soil [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research, 1968
Until the landing of the Surveyor 1 spacecraft on the moon, it had been inferred from earth-based optical, thermal, radio, and radar observations that the surface f the moon consisted of material of low-bulk density (less than 1 g/cm^3) and high porosity.

Effect of Canopy and Grazing on Soil Bulk Density [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Range Management, 2004
This study compared soil surface bulk density between: 1) sites not grazed by cattle > 26 years; 2) sites not grazed for 6 years; 3) sites grazed for 15 years to October residual dry matter levels of > 1100 kg ha -1 ; 4) sites grazed for 15 years to October residual dry matter levels of 670 to 900 kg ha -1 ; 5) sites grazed for 15 years to October ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Modelling Soil Bulk Density using Data-Mining and Expert Knowledge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Data about the spatial variation of soil attributes is required to address a great number of environmental issues, such as improving water quality, flood mitigation, and determining the effects of the terrestrial carbon cycle. The need for a continuum of

Evaluation of Automotive Varnish as a Coating for Density Measurements of Soil Clods

open access: yes, 2009
Saran F-310 resin (Dow Chemical Co, Midland, MI) has been widely used to coat soil clods for density and size measurements; however, the manufacturer has recently stopped producing this resin and supplies are difficult to obtain.

Density effects on soil-water characteristics, soil-gas diffusivity, and emissions of N₂O and N₂ from a re-packed pasture soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Density-induced soil structural changes may potentially alter both soil total porosity and soil pore size distribution, and thus change the soil’s water retention characteristics, gas diffusion and transport properties, and subsequent greenhouse ...

Effect of Nano, Bio and Organic Fertilizers on Some Soil Physical Properties and Soybean Productivity in Saline Soil

open access: yes, 2021
A field experiment was carried out at Khaled Ibn El-waleed village, Sahl El-Hussinia, El-Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, during two summer seasons 2019 and 2020 to study the effect of NPK nanofertilizers, biofertilizers and humic acid combined with or ...

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

The effect of the soil compaction on the contents of alfalfa root reserve nutrients in relation to the stand density and the amount of root biomass

open access: yesSoil and Water Research, 2007
The reserve root nutrients influence the overwintering, regrowth, yield, and persistence of alfalfa plants. The total amount of the root reserves is considered more important than their concentration.
