Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Climate-smart agriculture practices influence weed density and diversity in cereal-based agri-food systems of western Indo-Gangetic plains

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Climate-smart agriculture (CSA)-based management practices are getting popular across South-Asia as an alternative to the conventional system for particular weed suppression, resources conservation and environmental quality. An 8-year study (2012–2013 to

Effects of soil conditioner and humic acid applications on the development of some soil quality parameters

open access: yes, 1992
This study was conducted under greenhouse conditions in order to determine the effects of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyacrylamide (PAM) and humic acid (HA) applications on the improvement of some soil quality (erosion ratio and coefficient of linear ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Effect of electric field frequency on phytoremediation efficiency and properties of Cd-contaminated soil

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe
Electrochemical-phytoextraction is considered as an integrated technology for removal of Cd in contaminated soil. However, there is a lack of systematic studies on the how electric field frequency plant Cd enrichment and soil microbial properties, which ...

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Combined application of calcium fertilizer improves the immobilization of biochar-ferromanganese materials on cd/as co-polluted paddy soils under acidifying conditions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Soil acidification is an increasingly serious issue in southern China. A decrease in soil pH tends to interfere with the immobilization of heavy metals by amendments.

Conservation Agriculture: factors and drivers of adoption and scalable innovative practices in Indo-Gangetic plains of India– a review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agricultural Sustainability, 2021
Conventional- till (CT) agriculture is known to be ecologically indiscreet, economically and environmentally unsustainable, and leads to degradation of soil and environment in Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP).

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
