Soil Liquefaction and Paste Tailings [PDF]
Liquefaction of soils is a well documented phenomenon, frequently resulting in catastrophic failures, environmental damage, financial loss and deaths. What seems to be less well appreciated is that liquefaction is simply another constitutive behaviour of soils that can be understood in terms of accepted physics and mechanics.

ABSTRACT We perform probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) in the Shillong Plateau by clubbing the up‐to‐date earthquake data and seismotectonic properties of the study area. Twenty‐one areal seismic sources are delineated based on the updated earthquake catalog, tectonic, and fault plane solutions.

Multi‐Hazard Shaking‐Tsunami Fatality Risk Estimation for Coastal Communities
ABSTRACT This study develops a multi‐hazard fatality risk model for a coastal community (Tofino) on Vancouver Island, Canada, subjected to earthquake‐tsunami threats from the Cascadia subduction megathrust events. The model incorporates variable population distributions and uncertain fatality rate models, in addition to other key model components, such

Liquefaction analysis of abrasion protection structure in Padang
The liquefaction potential of a soil deposit is an important aspect to consider the stability of structure due to the earthquake. The liquefaction may also contribute to the safety of coastal constructions. The assessment of liquefaction potential can be

ABSTRACT Glacial Lake Fraser, which formed in British Columbia against the retreating Cordilleran Ice Sheet, stored ~520 km3 of water before its near‐total drainage into the Salish Sea during an outburst flood event. Despite the impact of the outburst flood on sediment transport and landscape evolution in the Fraser River valley, its peak discharge and

Impact-Induced Liquefaction Mechanism of Sandy Silt at Different Saturations
Landslide-induced liquefaction has received extensive attention from scholars in recent years. In the study of loess landslides in the southern Loess Plateau of Jingyang, some scholars have noted the liquefaction of the near-saturated sandy silt layer ...

Modeling Biocemented Sands: Hypoplastic Model for MICP‐Based Ground Improvement
ABSTRACT Bio‐cementation offers a sustainable and low‐carbon alternative to conventional ground improvement methods, aligning with the growing demand for green geotechnical solutions. To enable reliable numerical simulation of bio‐cemented soil behavior in engineering applications, advanced constitutive models are required to account for the effects of

In-situ liquefaction tests considering effects of overburden pressure
The in-situ liquefaction test is a new and exploratory research approach for soil liquefaction in geotechnical engineering in recent years. At present, in the in-situ liquefaction tests by the previous researchers, the overburden pressure of the ...
