Systematic Benchmarking of a Noise‐Tolerant Conductive Hydrogel Electrode for Epidermal Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
General schematic of the approach. Abstract Conventional Silver/Silver Chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes remain the clinical standard for electrophysiological monitoring but are hindered by poor skin conformity, mechanical rigidity, and signal degradation, particularly under motion or sweat.

Coupled Above‐ and Belowground Ecosystem Stability Worldwide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Are the worlds above and below our feet in sync? This global exploration reveals an entangled fate between above‐ and belowground ecosystem stability. It identifies arid regions as hotspots for this coupling and highlights temperature stability as a vital safeguard for maintaining ecosystem balance across our warming planet.

DEM-CFM analysis of Lode angle influence on the undrained cyclic behavior of anisotropically consolidated soils

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study examines the behavior of anisotropically consolidated granular assemblies under undrained cyclic true triaxial loading paths. To achieve this, the Discrete Element Method (DEM) is conjugated with the Coupled Fluid Method (CFM) to account for ...

Metabologenomic Hallmark‐Based Discovery of Bacterial Thioamides as a New Lead against Drug‐Resistant Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A targeted metabologenomic strategy integrating genomic and metabolomic hallmarks enabled the discovery of two new thioamides, thiogochangamides A and B, from bacteria. Their absolute configurations, previously unresolved within the thioviridamide family, were fully assigned through various chemical derivatizations and computational analysis ...

Transcription Factor Promiscuity Drives Regulatory Rewiring and Evolvability in Gene Networks in Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
When a master transcription factor (TF) is lost, bacteria can rapidly rewire gene regulatory networks by co‐opting related regulators. Using experimental evolution in Pseudomonas fluorescens, we show that TF promiscuity (low‐level, non‐cognate binding) provides the raw material for rewiring. Successful co‐option follows a predictable hierarchy governed

Deformation Driven Suction Cups: A Mechanics‐Based Approach to Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Deformation‐driven suction cups enable robust, reversible adhesion of wearable electronics to human skin spanning wide mechanical compliance, without adhesives or tight straps. By integrating mechanics modeling, experiments, and contact mechanics theory, this work reveals how cup geometry, substrate compliance, and interfacial adhesion govern suction ...

Using the scaled boundary finite element method to model 2D time-dependent geotechnical engineering problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The scaled boundary finite element method caters well for soil-structure interaction problems, but the formulation does not cater for the presence of changing pore pressures with time, body loads and tractions. A detailed formulation is presented in this

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...
