Soil mesofauna under different soil tillage systems and nutrient sources
The agricultural practices affect the soil fauna which has an important role in the soil such asincorporation and decay of crop residues and to assist the action of microorganisms. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of soil tillage systems and nutrient sources on soil mesofauna abundance and diversity.

Ecotoxicity evaluation of modern herbicides by their effect on the soil mesofauna
Pesticides, as biologically active substances, can influence on biota of agroecosystems, in particular on fauna of invertebrate animals that play an important role in soil-forming process. The work is devoted to study of the ecotoxicity of herbicidal preparations, belonging to the class of chloroacetanilide (chloro-acetamides), on the representatives ...

Collembola laterally move biochar particles.
Biochar is being discussed as a soil amendment to improve soil fertility and mitigate climate change. While biochar interactions with soil microbial biota have been frequently studied, interactions with soil mesofauna are understudied. We here present an

Studying chemical signals in plant–soil mesofauna interactions
Discrimination of compounds produced from plant roots is a challenging purpose, especially in presence of the soil matrix and the associated fauna. In this study, we aimed to test a collection method of chemical signals released by living plants and soil fauna in interaction in a soil matrix.

Effects of Cover Crops on Soil Mesofauna in Horticultural Systems in Portugal
Soil is essential for human survival, with approximately 95% of global food production originating from land. However, over the past century, overexploitation has led to soil degradation and biodiversity loss, with significant impacts on agroecosystems ...
