Abstract Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a persistent pollutant with potential long‐term effects on the environment and on health. Recent studies using ice core records report large increases (up to tenfold) in Arctic TFA deposition since the 1970s, and trends suggest long‐lived chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) replacements may be a major source.

Abstract Soil production, through bedrock weathering, regulates landscape evolution, biogeochemical cycles, and societal sustainability, yet quantifying soil production rates (SPRs) remains difficult due to limited tools. Here, we present a new framework for measuring SPRs based on uranium comminution ages and validate this approach at a deep granitic ...

Abstract Controlling fluid injection is widely considered a key to limiting the size of injection‐induced seismicity, yet whether and how it limits earthquake size remains debated. We perform injection‐reactivation experiments on critically stressed faults to test how different injection strategies shape slip and seismic moment release.

Abstract It remains unclear how changes in moisture supply drive droughts in the Agro‐Pastoral Ecotone of Northern China (APENC), where ecological restoration and food security are increasingly vulnerable under warming. Using a moisture‐tracking model, we quantify the moisture sources of APENC's precipitation and its trends, and reveal mechanisms ...

Abstract While climate signals encapsulated in the 13C content of C3 plants' leaf wax n‐alkanes are largely tied to precipitation, they may also be sensitive to plant physiological responses to temperature. In this study, statistical analyses on a global data set of modern plants reveal a correlation between the 13C discrimination for leaf waxes ...
