Soil moisture

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1971
Infiltration continues to occupy the attention of soil physicists and engineers. A theoretical and experimental analysis of the effect of surface sealing on infiltration by Edwards and Larson [1969] showed that raindrops reduced the infiltration rate by as much as 50% for a two‐hour period of infiltration.

Modeling soil moisture–reflectance [PDF]

open access: yesRemote Sensing of Environment, 2001
Spectral information on soil is not easily available as vegetation and farm works prevent direct observation of soil responses. However, there is an increasing need to include soil reflectance values in spectral unmixing algorithms or in classification approaches.

Soil Moisture

open access: yes, 2001
Soil moisture samples were taken at 29 sites in northwest Iowa during the last week of October 2001. Moisture samples were pulled at 1-foot increments, down to a 5-foot depth. Samples were weighed, oven dried, and reweighed at the Sutherland research farm.

Soil Moisture

open access: yes, 2009
Soil moisture samples were taken at 11 sites in northwest Iowa during the first few days of November, 2009. Moisture samples were pulled at 1-ft increments down to a 5-ft depth. Samples were weighed, oven dried, and reweighed at the Northwest Research Farm, Sutherland, IA.

Measuring soil moisture [PDF]

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 2002
A recent aerial field experiment of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration carried out above farmland near Ames, Iowa, could help scientists to develop a remote global soil moisture observing system over most of the Earth's non‐forested and unfrozen regions.During the experiment, which lasted from 25 June to 8 July scientists and engineers ...

Soil Moisture Sensor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Research in Science, Communication and Technology
The moisture of the soil plays an essential role in the irrigation field as well as in gardens for plants. As nutrients in the soil provide the food to the plants for their growth. Supplying water to the plants is also essential to change the temperature of the plants.

Soil Moisture Detector

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology
Abstract: Soil Moisture is directly related to the amount of irrigation in agriculture and influences the yield of crops. Accordingly, a soil moisture sensor is an important tool for measuring soil moisture content. In this study, the previous research conducted in recent 2-3 decades on soil moisture sensors was reviewed and the principles of commonly ...
