Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), heavy metals content and radioactivity levels were measured in 27 soil samples collected from Priština, the capital of Kosovo and Metohija. The sixteen PAHs, twelve OCPs and six PCBs congeners were determined by gas chromatography system with ...

Cesium ions (Cs+) are notable radioactive contaminants hazardous to humans and the environment. Among various remediation methods, adsorption is a practical way to remove Cs+ from water, and Prussian blue (PB) is well-known as an efficient Cs+ adsorbent.

A Policy Driven Vegetative Foodchain Model: Soil-Plant Transfer in Chinese Organic Soil
Volume 8: Decontamination and Decommissioning, Radiation Protection, and Waste ManagementRadionuclides can be released into the terrestrial environment from nuclear facilities through particulate matter or gases. The deposition of radionuclides in vegetation and soil is the starting point for their transfer into the terrestrial environment

A comparative analysis was performed of the impact on living organisms, in terms of genotoxicity, of two factors, namely, radiation (residual 137Cs) and a chemical factor (pesticides) . The experiment was conducted both on individual pesticide samples and the aqueous extracts of soil samples.
