Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Sabatier‐Adjusted d‐Band Centers of Scalable Asymmetric Iron Sites toward Dynamic Nonradical Network for Fast Mineralization with Low‐Amount Oxidant

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Nonradicals relying on peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation face inherent kinetic and thermodynamic limitations in pollutant mineralization. This is overcome using asymmetric iron single‐atom catalysts (Fe‐SACs) with Sabatier‐adjusted d‐band centers that ...

Insights into the mechanisms underlying efficient Rhizodegradation of PAHs in biochar-amended soil: From microbial communities to soil metabolomics

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
The combined effects of biochar amendment and the rhizosphere on the soil metabolic microbiome during the remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-contaminated soil remain unknown. In this study, we attempted to characterize a PAH degradation

A method for soil health assessment in the conversion to organic farming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper was presented at the UK Organic Research 2002 Conference of the Colloquium of Organic Researchers (COR). The regulation for the assessment of the conversion to organic farming establishes the use of soil/produce pollution and the type of ...

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

High single-pass conversion of nitrous oxide to dinitrogen in gas-diffusion-electrolyzer

open access: yesNature Communications
Electrocatalytic N2O reduction reaction offers a sustainable solution of converting greenhouse gas N2O to N2 under ambient conditions, but achieving high single-pass conversion remains challenging.

Arsenic and antimony co-contamination influences on soil microbial community composition and functions: Relevance to arsenic resistance and carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur cycling

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2021
Microorganisms can mediate arsenic (As) and antimony (Sb) transformation and thus change the As and Sb toxicity and mobility. The influence of As and Sb on the innate microbiome has been extensively characterized.

HEAVY METAL ACCUMULATION IN ROOTS OF ТARAXACUM OFFICINALE WIGG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Soil is an active acceptor for some elements, heavy metals in particular. Microelements are firmly sorbed and interact with soil humus layer. At the same time some plants are resistant to soil contamination and can be used as bioindicators.

Enrichment of the Antibiotic Resistance Gene tet(L) in an Alkaline Soil Fertilized With Plant Derived Organic Manure

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Fifteen antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and intI1, a gene involved in horizontal gene transfer (HGT) of ARGs, were quantified in three different soil samples from a 22 year old field experiment that had received inorganic fertilizer (NPK), organic ...
